Pornhub to Block Nebraska

Nebraska is about to have something in common with Texas. On July 15th, 2024, Pornhub will start blocking visitors from the state of Nebraska. This action follows the recent passing of LB1092, a law that allows the state to target adult websites deemed insufficient in verifying the age of their users.

Under this new law, Nebraska requires adults who wish to access adult content to provide a biometric scan of their face and match it with a copy of their driver’s license or ID. While some might think such measures are unlikely, the law passed smoothly through the unicameral legislature, and Governor Jim Pillen had no issue signing it into law. This law will become effective on July 15th.

At first glance, it may seem like no big deal; people can use VPNs or other methods to access sites that block states instead of complying. However, many adult websites, to avoid prosecution, will block IP addresses from VPN providers.

While protecting minors from accessing adult content is crucial, these measures should not compromise people’s privacy. Third-party age verification methods could be exploited, potentially leading to blackmail. If you doubt the possibility of a data breach, consider the Ashley Madison incident, which ruined many lives.

More adult websites will be joining Pornhub in blocking any state that passes laws like this. So don’t be surprised if you can’t reach some of your favorite adult sites in the near future. This could begin to affect sites that swingers use to meet other swingers. Many of our swinger community sites allow for the upload and sharing of naughty adult photos. So don’t be surprised if, in the future, you will need to provide your driver’s license for verification.

Five other states will be enacting similar laws. To learn more about the efforts to fight these laws, visit the Free Speech Coalition’s website Here.
